Credit Transfer
The primary purpose of transfer is to increase student accessibility by facilitating student mobility between institutions. BC's public post-secondary institutions support an innovative and extensive formal set of guidelines for both course and block transfer.
The tables below indicate the transfer arrangements currently in place between institutions offering programs related to adult education. Transfer arrangements and policies are complex and continuously evolving. Because of that if there are discrepancies between the information here and that provided directly by the institutions, the information obtained directly from the institutions involved should always be taken as the most reliable.

Courses from the JIBC Trainer Development Certificate Program are given credit towards the completion of the University of Victoria CACE Program. Those students who complete the JIBC Trainer Development Certificate Program will be granted credit for CACE's Program Planning in Adult Education (core) and one elective (1.0). |

TRANSFER OF CREDITS TRANSFER OF CREDIT BEFORE ADMISSION A maximum of 18 UBC credits or 12 credits from other institutions of appropriate course work completed prior to enrolling in the Diploma and not credited towards another degree or diploma may be counted towards the requirements of the Diploma. Students seeking such transfer must obtain permission in advance from the Teacher Education Office and have an official transcript sent to that office. This must be done at time of admission to the Diploma Program. Retrospective requests will not be considered. If courses completed prior to admission are accepted toward the Diploma program, the five year "clock" to complete the program will be reset to the date of the first course accredited to the program. For example, if a student is admitted to the Diploma program in January 1998, normally the student would have until December 2002 (5 years) to complete the Diploma. If that same student, however, requests transfer credit for a course completed in September 1996, the five year "clock" would be reset back to 1996 and the student would have until August 2001 (5 years) to complete the Diploma. TRANSFER OF CREDIT AFTER ADMISSION A maximum of 12 credits of appropriate courses from other institutions of higher education may be transferred after enrolling in the Diploma towards the requirements of the Diploma in Education. This may be particularly helpful to students away from the Vancouver area who wish to take related courses closer to home. Because course transfers are not guaranteed, you should allow sufficient time to apply for them BEFORE taking a course. A written request should be made to the Administrator of the Diploma Program which includes a description of the course, including credits, content, and location. This information is needed to confer with the Teacher Education Office on whether and how much credit can be allowed. Note: Although adult education courses from UBC are listed through the Open Learning Agency (OLA), transfer requirements apply to courses taken through the OLA. |
